Woot! I am famous.
As the momentum builds for
Rubber Seoul, so does the
exposure for
GrassRootsUganda.com. As a result, your truly got
interviewed for Groove Magazine here in Korea.
Groove is a magazine aimed at all the
immigrant* workers here in Korea.
I can't give you the actual text here in
this article, but you can download the first two pages
here and the second two pages
here.
I was pleased with how it turned out, as I
swamped the interviewer with a wealth of information.
Everything from mental breakdowns, to a loss of a faith, to
volunteering in Africa and the Philippines.
I did have a few issues thought.
First, I just don't like the title at all:
Recovering Yuppie. It doesn't sum up the story at all.
I would have much preferred "Godless Activist".
Also, I was not raised in a fundamentalist
Christian household. "Quasi-religious" would be a better
description. I most certainly did become a fundamentalist
though.
And I did not make any of my co-workers
redundant. I did put people out of work in companies that
I was contracted to work for. The better my skills, the
more efficient the system would be, the less employees that
would be required. It wasn't that the companies fired the
people, it was more like the failed to rehire people.
So, there it is. There is a magazine
signing session in Suwon on the 22nd of November, so bring along
your copies!
