Craft Days
at Pulao Elementary School
20th April 2007
The
graduation day at Pulao was nice. No doubt about it. But
it did not give me enough time with the kids.
So, being the industrious fellow that I am, I organised some craft days
at Pulao Elementary School. Most of the Grade Five kids I used to
teach turned up. I invited the other grades, but some reason it
became a mostly Grade Five event.
I taught them how to make the paper beads that I used for the crafts at
GrassRootsUganda.com. Some of them didn't quite have the manual
dexterity, but fun was had nevertheless.
As a slight aside, all those souls who sent me support for
this
industry may need to reassess their morals.
Dodgy buildings? People paying to work? Young girls paying
off their debts with "favors"? No toilets? No toilet breaks?
Girls keeping themselves dry with plastic while the beads are protected?
Very long shifts? Thirty five pesos a day? A big ol' S.U.V.?
Hmmm... What date was that published again?
Oh and this
woman,
is not a woman.
